Damn Nation

I sit here all alone
My love is far and gone
And I wonder why it is
That everyone's so cold

Heartless, thoughtless,
Stonehearts are countless
A romantic so hopeless
That I am I confess

Factory machines running on all cylinders
Firing squads blasting away
Cash flows in by the millions each day
As long as it doesn't reach the masses grey
Some speak up but no one hears what they say
1984 brought to this day
Keep trodding on or you'll be left behind
Replaced by the first lamb they can find

Sun
 Burns
  Ice
   Melts
    Earth
     Turns
      Life
       Ends

Still I sit here all alone
Pondering of love lost
My heart has grown old
Become a mere ghost

Yet I crave for something
Deep down inside of me
My soul is now starving
How empty do I feel

Tall buildings, limousines and shining halls
Dungeons deep where the workers crawl
Riches enough to feed the young and old
Used to fulfill the greed for gold

As I sit here all alone
I look up to the stars
I'm only flesh and bone
My soul is full of scars

I realize I need to see
Deeper than the sky
I drink another cold beer
Glad I didn't die
